• Conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, is an inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva, the thin, clear tissue that lines the inside of the eyelid and covers the white part of the eye.

  • Conjunctivitis is common and can affect people of all ages.

  • It can be uncomfortable, causing symptoms like redness, itching, and discharge in one or both eyes.

  • Conjunctivitis may be caused by infections (viral or bacterial), allergies, or irritants. In some cases, it can signal a more serious underlying condition.

  • If the conjunctivitis is severe, worsening, or not improving with recommended treatment, or if the cause is unclear, it may be necessary to refer the patient to a doctor for further evaluation.
