Acid reflux occurs when stomach content, which is acidic, rises up the oesophagus / food pipe.
Acid reflux is also referred to as gasto-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), indigestion or heartburn.
Nearly everyone gets heartburn due to acid reflux from time to time.
When reflux occurs more than twice a week it is called GORD, which can lead to more serious health problems and impact well being and quality of life.
