You must refer to the pharmacist, if in your conversation you discover that your patient:

  • may have a secondary bacterial or viral infection.

  • requests, or you believe they may need a Pharmacist-Only product such as a stronger cortisone cream or ointment, or an antihistamine to reduce the itch.

  • has used a number of products without success and you are unsure what to recommend.

And refer if you are concerned at the severity or extent of the rash.
