Take Oral Rehydration Fluids
Diarrhoea can cause a loss of electrolytes, which can lead to a dangerous health complications, especially in the very young and elderly.
Oral rehydration products replace the electrolytes and water that the patient is losing.
Also encourage your patient to drink water to reduce their likelihood of dehydration.

alcohol
caffeine
fruit juice
sugary and fizzy drinks
milk and dairy products
… as these may make the diarrhoea worse

dairy products
fried, fatty, greasy foods
spicy foods
processed foods
fruit and raw vegetables
… as these may make the diarrhoea worse

Hygiene Tips
Transmission can be via contact with a contaminated surface, so
1. Wash hands well before and after preparing food and using the toilet
2. Use a hand sanitiser regularly
3. Don’t share cutlery, plates or drinking cups.
Stay home + rest to allow the body to recover
